Ask Sharon: Be open to unlimited possibilities

This Ask Sharon (angel intuitive) column in The Area News on Friday 12 June, 2015 answers a question from a skeptic by encouraging them to be open to possibilities.

The Ask Sharon column as it appeared in The Area News today Friday 12 June, 2015.

Following is a copy of the full version of the column featured in The Area News complete with the “Possibilities” card from the Osho Zen Tarot deck.

THIS week Scott asks:

“I don’t believe in much, I don’t even read my horoscope so what could your cards possibly tell someone like me?”

Well, the cards and the guidance they represent can tell you quite a lot. The issue is how much of it will permeate your being, in this non-believer state that you mention.

Even saying the words that come naturally to me, “I’ll tune into your question as I shuffle the cards”, would cause you to feel what I refer to as resistance. In other words, it will stir within you more annoyance and irritation than bring a sense of appeasement. Yet, I believe today’s card from the OSHO Zen Tarot, “Possibilities”, is the best place to start.

The “Possibilities” card is from the OSHO Zen Tarot deck. It was drawn to help answer a question from a skeptic by encouraging them to be open to possibilities.

The Possibilities card is copyright to Osho International Foundation Switzerland, 1994.

I’ll admit, it’s not some earth-shattering epiphany-like card, but it is what you’re looking for – even if you don’t yet believe it!

I have to be honest and say, I was relieved that the cards “Letting Go” or “Consciousness” didn’t emerge, as that might further drive you away from a world of possibilities. However, the thing about card readings is that they are often a highly accurate measure of what is going on in someone’s life and they provide gentle and reassuring guidance…always.

Tips on how to be open to possibilities:

  • Start with the little things – can you at least bring yourself to appreciate a meal, a sunset, your paycheck?
  • Ask yourself, “What’s the worst that can happen, if just for a while, I make an attempt to look beyond what it is I think I know?”
  • Consider that life is meant to deliver more to you than the mediocre and that the key to that life is in your hands.

I don’t believe you can go from being a non-believer one day to having an unshakable faith the next – at least not without the help of a near death experience or some major life event (aka a wake-up call).

But don’t take my word for it. I refer to a passage that accompanied the “Possibilities” card. “Those who remain content easily remain small: small are their joys, small are their ecstasies, small are their silences, small is their being. But there is no need! This smallness is your own imposition upon your freedom, upon your unlimited possibilities, upon your unlimited potential.”

As you go about your life, I hope that you might recall this exchange and at some point recognise that all it takes is to open your eyes even the slightest to be aware of opportunities and your potential. Something may happen that makes your non-believer status a thing of the past and your life will never be the same again. It could be better than you ever imagined.
