Following is a copy of the full version of the column featured in The Area News complete with the “Focus” card from Denise Linn’s Soul Coaching Oracle Cards.
THIS week Chrissy asked:
“This morning I couldn’t find my phone. It was in my bed and upon checking it I seemed to have sent a random text to a client on my contact list while I slept. The message made no sense, and I’m feeling really uneasy about this?”
Apart from telling you that you can call on Archangel Chamuel for lost items (he’s never once failed to come through for me), I believe today’s column will provide insight and advice that you have been seeking for some time.
Part of the answer lies in a previous column about dreams and how in our slumber state we can receive messages which we can then apply to our waking hours. The other part lies in today’s “Focus” card from Denise Linn’s Soul Coaching deck.
Tips to focus on the here and now:
- Awareness is key: when you find yourself thinking about the wouldas, couldas, shouldas, you’re out of the moment. Once you know this, you can just as easily snap back into the present and re-focus on what you were doing.
- When you’re experiencing any big negative emotions such as anger, guilt, criticism or judgement, consider is it because you are out of the moment? Most of these feelings by default, draw our attention away from the present by causing us to stew on the past or worry about the future.
- Live life according to Bil Keane’s famous quote: “Yesterday’s the past, tomorrow’s the future, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.”
Sometimes things happen, like the experience you described, because it prompts us to ask questions. It takes us on a path of discovery and as the saying goes, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” In your case, I feel you would gain a raft of benefits from exploring the theory and practice of living in the now.
It would be remiss of me to write about the present moment without quoting who I consider to be The Master of The Now (and your new teacher) Eckhart Tolle. In 2011, he was listed as the most spiritually influential person in the world. In other words, he knows a thing or two about living a life with purpose and presence.
Interestingly, I was treated to a serendipity moment when I looked up Eckhart’s website and found that he is currently promoting a feature called Sleep: Merging with the Source of Life. This serves to confirm that today’s column can represent a new path of learning for you. Your energy will go from diffused to determined. Not only will losing your phone be a thing of the past, but you will only be contacting your clients when you are wide awake.

A little extra information…
I decided to include the following material from the guidebook about the “Focus” card, as it may offer some additional insight.
What you focus on is what you create, so put your attention on thoughts that are beautiful, worthwhile, and loving. It’s time to focus your intent and your passion on one thing, rather than being scattered in different directions.
Your Soul wants you to know: What you see around you is the result of what you focus on. When you direct your thoughts toward good, you attract positive experiences and people into your life; but when you focus on what isn’t working, you create even more challenging situations. If you aren’t pleased with the direction of your life, concentrate on what you desire – not on what you don’t want. To develop inner power, gather your internal energy and focus intently on one thing. Being scattered in a myriad of directions dilutes your strength.
Devote your attention to your career, your relationships, a hobby, or something that you’re passionate about. Diminish activities that aren’t essential to this goal, and it will just be a matter of time until miracles begin to occur.
Affirmation: “All of my thoughts are directed toward my highest good!”
And finally…
In case you missed it, that Archangel Chamuel Prayer for lost items courtesy of Doreen Virtue is here. Try it and prepare to be amazed…it really works!
