Following is a copy of the full version of the column featured in The Area News complete with the “Admit the Truth to Yourself, and Act Accordingly” card from Doreen Virtue’s Archangel Michael Oracle deck.
THIS week Sonya asked:
“I consider myself to be a positive person so why then is my life not as good as I’d like it to be?”
Just when I was about to return a book to the library, I turned to a page that echoes how I would respond to your question. In her memoir, Dying to be Me, Anita Moorjani shares the insights she received from her near death experience and her miraculous recovery from cancer.
She writes, “When we see someone who’s really upbeat, effervescent and kind, but whose life is crumbling, we may think, See? This “being positive” thing doesn’t work. But here’s the issue: we don’t know that individual’s inner dialogue. We don’t know what other people are telling themselves day in and day out, or whether they’re emotionally happy. And most important, we don’t know whether they love and value themselves!”
My belief is that our emotional happiness and that inner dialogue hinges upon being true to oneself. But that is only part of the equation. The other part can be summarised by today’s Archangel Michael card, “Admit the Truth to Yourself and Act Accordingly.”
So what is this truth that I’m referring to? It can take many forms: pursuing a career or passion that you love, being creative, being more active, spending quality time with your loved ones….essentially anything that your heart desires. It could be as simple as choosing to not stack the dishwasher out of responsibility but rather to wait for a time during the day when you’re in a better place to do it!
Tips on how to handle the truth:
- Our truth gets muffled and overshadowed by our daily activities – stop, breathe and listen to your soul’s messages.
- If you’ve noticed an area of your life that is lacking authenticity and integrity, now is the time to make changes – because if not now, when?
- Ask: “What am I doing today to create the life I want to experience tomorrow?” Time for truth to be met with action.
Sometimes we sugarcoat, overlook and keep the peace under the guise of being optimistic and positive but in the process we shelve our inner truth. This is deep, I know…and a notion that most people don’t give a second thought to as they go about their day. But could it be that ignoring the truth consistently is the cause of why so many people feel like they’re just existing, floating and surviving through life?
Don’t get me wrong, optimism has its place, but in the words of Shakespeare, “To thine own self be true.”

A little extra help from above…
Attached to this week’s card is a prayer to Archangel Michael to help you be true to yourself:
“I appreciate your support in helping me face my feelings with grace and acceptance so that I can be lovingly honest with myself and others. Thank you, Archangel Michael, for giving me courage and strength.”
